Seattle is the largest city of Washington, north-western United States. The city is located between Lake Washington and Puget Sound known as the Bay, along the Pacific Ocean. It is located 155 kilometers south of the border between the U.S. and Canada. It was founded in late 1850, on indigenous territories of Seattle, after who is named.
Seattle is famous as the birthplace of grunge music, and the large consumption of coffee (here came the Starbucks chain of coffee shops). In 1999 was the place where the WTO summit was held, marked by anti-globalization protests known as N30. Scientists from the University of Connecticut gave the city the distinction of being the city that has more literacy in the U.S. in 2005. Also its famous for the tower called the Space Needle, which has become, since its construction, a symbol for the city
